Uploading Your Photos and Videos to a Third-Party Device (Android)

 

Here’s What You’ll Need:

01  Your MicroSD card (from your camera)

02  A MicroSD card smartphone adapter

03  Your Android phone

 

Let’s Get Started:

1. Turn Off the Camera and Remove the MicroSD Card

Power off your camera to avoid any issues before removing the MicroSD card. Carefully pop the card out from its slot.

 

2. Insert the MicroSD Card into the Adapter

Grab your MicroSD card and slide it into the MicroSD card adapter. This is what allows your phone to read the files from your camera—think of it as a mini bridge between the two.

 

3. Plug the Adapter into Your Android

Plug the adapter into the charging port of your Android phone. Most newer phones use USB-C, but if you have an older phone, you might need a Micro-USB adapter. Your phone should detect the card right away.

 

4. Open Your File Manager

If your phone doesn’t automatically open the files, no worries. Just open your phone’s “File Manager” or “My Files” app. You’ll see your MicroSD card listed under its default name, “USB Drive.” Tap on it to access the files.

 

5. Choose Which Files to Transfer

Scroll through the “PHOTO” and “VIDEO” folders to find what you want to transfer. To select them, press and hold any photo or video, then tap on the others you want to include.

IMPORTANT(!): It is not recommended to change the 1990\retro’s MicroSD folder names where your photos and videos are saved. Doing so may result in unexpected behavior, such as your camera not being unable to properly process and save your media. It is always best practice to leave files and folders that undergo significant read/write access unaltered and in their default file creation state.

 

6. Move the Files to Your Phone

After selecting the files, tap “Move” or “Copy,” whichever you prefer. Navigate to the folder where you want to save them—like “DCIM” or “Pictures”—then tap “Paste” or “Move Here.” Your files will start transferring. Once this procedure has started, it is important to not disconnect or tamper with the MicroSD card adapter. Interrupting the connection could result in data-loss or corruption.

 

7. You’re Done!

Your photos and videos are now safely stored on your phone. You can check them out in your gallery, edit them, or send them to your friends.
