Uploading Your Photos and Videos to a Third-Party Device (macOS/OS X)

Transferring magical moments from your 1990\retro to your Apple computer has never been easier with USB-C connectivity. We took guesswork out of the equation by writing up these simple easy-to-follow steps.

 

What You’ll Need:

01  Tu 1990\retro

02  A laptop of PC running macOS/OS X

03  USB-C cable (included with your camera)

04  MicroSD card (inside your camera)

 

Let’s Get Started:

1. Turn On Your 1990\retro

First things first, make sure your camera is powered on and ready to go for the transfer.

 

2. Connect Using USB-C

Plug the USB-C cable into your camera, then connect the other end into your Apple computer. Your computer should recognize your camcorder’s MicroSD card as an external storage device automatically.

 

3. Open Finder

On your Apple computer, open Finder (the little smiley face icon at the bottom of your screen). In the sidebar, you should see the 1990\retro’s MicroSD card listed under "Locations" or "Devices." It will be called "USB Drive."

 

4. Browse Your Files

Click on the MicroSD card’s name, and you'll find the “PHOTO” and “VIDEO” folders where your media has been saved. Explore a bit to locate the files you want.

IMPORTANT(!): It is not recommended to change the 1990\retro’s MicroSD folder names where your photos and videos are saved. Doing so may result in unexpected behavior, such as your camera not being unable to properly process and save your media. It is always best practice to leave files and folders that undergo significant read/write access unaltered and in their default file creation state.

 

5. Drag and Drop

To upload your photos and videos, simply drag the files or folders from the MicroSD card to your desktop or into a folder of your choice—like your Pictures or Movies folders. You can select individual files or drag everything at once.

 

6. Wait for the Transfer

Once you’ve dragged and dropped your files, they’ll begin copying over to your computer. Depending on how many photos and videos you’re transferring, this could take just a few seconds or a couple of minutes.

 

7. Eject the Device

When the transfer is done, always make sure to eject your camcorder safely. In Finder, click the eject icon next to your camcorder’s MicroSD card under "Locations" to disconnect it without any risk of file corruption.

 

8. Unplug Your Camera

Now that everything’s transferred, go ahead and unplug the USB-C cable from your 1990 and Apple computer.
