Uploading Your Photos and Videos to a Third-Party Device (iPhone)

 

What You’ll Need:

01  Your MicroSD card (from your camera)

02  A MicroSD card smartphone adapter

03  Your iPhone

 

Let’s Get Started:

1. Power Off and Remove the MicroSD Card

Before removing your MicroSD card from the camera, be sure your camera is powered off to avoid data loss. Gently slide the MicroSD card out of its slot.

 

2. Insert the MicroSD Card Into the Adapter

Take your MicroSD card and insert it into the MicroSD card adapter. The adapter is small but powerful—this is the device which makes file transfer possible between your camera and iPhone.

 

3. Connect the Adapter to Your iPhone

Plug the adapter into the lightning port of your iPhone. Once connected, your iPhone will automatically recognize the MicroSD card, and a prompt should appear on your screen.

 

4. Open the Files App

If the prompt doesn’t pop up, don’t worry! Simply open the “Files” app on your iPhone. You’ll see your MicroSD card listed under “Locations.” Tap on it to view all your beautiful photos and videos.

Open the Photos App

Once open, on some iPhone models, an “Import” button will appear on the bottom-right portion of the screen alongside the native “Library”, “For You”, “Albums”, and “Search” buttons. After tapping the “Import” button, a new screen will appear showing all the photos on videos that your iPhone has identified on your MicroSD card.

 

5. Select the Photos and Videos You Want to Transfer

Scroll through the “PHOTO” and “VIDEO” folders to find the moments that mean the most to you. To transfer, tap and hold a photo or video until the selection tool appears. Then, select all the files you wish to save.

If you are performing your file transfer using the alternative “Import” function within the Photos App in the previous step, you have the option of tapping “Select” on the right-hand side of each individual photo or video, or tapping “Import All” to perform a bulk transfer. If this is starting to feel like a choose-your-own-adventure storyline, we're not apologizing.

 

IMPORTANT(!): It is not recommended to change the 1990\retro’s MicroSD folder names where your photos and videos are saved. Doing so may result in unexpected behavior, such as your camera not being unable to properly process and save your media. It is always best practice to leave files and folders that undergo significant read/write access unaltered and in their default file creation state.

 

6. Save to Your iPhone

Once your files are selected, tap the “Share” button in the bottom-left corner. Choose “Save [number] items” to save everything directly to your iPhone’s photo gallery.

Once this procedure has begun, it is important to not disconnect or tamper with the MicroSD card adapter. Interrupting the connection could result in data-loss or corruption.

If you are performing your file transfer using the alternative “Import” function within the Photos App, an [Import Complete] prompt will appear when the procedure is done, providing you with additional options to perform on the photos and videos stored on your MicroSD card.

 

7. Relive the Memories!

That’s it! Now, your memories are safely stored on your iPhone, ready to be edited, shared with friends, or simply enjoyed whenever you feel a wave of nostalgia.
